History of Vietnamese Immigration to America: During Vietnam war many Vietnamese fled Vietnam and came to the United States but the bulk of North Carolina's Vietnamese population comes from refugees that came after the end of the Vietnam war this increase in refugees could be seen in the 1980's where the population had risen to substantial numbers. Today the Vietnamese population of Raleigh itself numbers around 2000 people. The majority of the temple population comes from working middle class families. Amongst them they come from a mix of political views from democrat to Republican. The monks of the Temple itself came at 1975 at the very end of vietnam war. There are three main monks in the community all of whom come from the Vietnam where they were born and raised. The members of the congreation that continuously attend the temple are by majority Vietnamese people. Other Asian Groups such as Chinese and Koreans are also know to attend to temple and worship. There is also a small portion of Caucasians who regularly attend services.
